Fair Work for Small Business

Just a reminder that the new "Modern Awards" will commence from 1 January 2010 as part of the new Fair Work Act.

There are approximately 120 "Modern Awards" replacing around 4,000 previous awards.  This affects "National System Employers" which include:

• Companies (public and private);
• Incorporated Trusts (trusts with incorporated trustees); and
• The Commonwealth Government.

Up to 80% of businesses in New South Wales will be affected by the Fair Work Act.
